During this course I understood that technology can not be learned without application. My technology skills were very basic and right now I think they are a little above that. The best thing I learned is that technology is a process of trial and error. The use of technology in the classroom opens the door to a more student centered education. Technology allows students to take different roles and one of them is to lead the teacher and their classmates. It promotes the true team work since some students are very proficient than others. From now on I will pay more attention to the different variations of technology my students bring to the classroom and I will ask them to please create a lesson for all of us to learn how to use it then I will implement it in any of our lessons.
My two long term goals are for me to become more proficient in the use of podcast and the use of moodle. I will write a proposal for my principal to get permission to open a podcast for us. I will explain him the benefits for our school of having such a neat 2.0 tool in work. Then I will try to convince all my colleague teachers to try to use our moodle program in our school as a way of communicating among us and the students and integrate podcasts in their classes.

Dear Raquel,
ReplyDeleteAs the old saying goes, "you have to start somewhere!" When you consider that your technology skills may have been very basic, I'm to say that you can see progress in your understanding. How will student collaboration and their creation of a lesson increase student achievement. Do you think you might encounter institutional or systemic obstacles? Are any of your colleagues supporters of technology in their classrooms?
Dr. Howe
I love to use my students' help at the time I am creating my lessons. Thier different learning technology styles will help me to use them as helpers and source for the class. Their personal input will give them ownership of their own learning process that at the same time will promote their achievement in school.
ReplyDeleteThe only institutional obstacles I will encounter next year, will be the willingness of my colleague teaches in letting me bring these new tools to our team. I am not worried about my principal since he is very supportive of any innovative ideas. About the system I am worried about the strong filter we have in my school and how I will have to present my idea of letting us use some webpages that the school district has vanned from our net.
In my school we have like 50% of teachers pro technology and the other half between teachers not sure about how to use it and teachers that do not want to use technology. I am not aware of my new team of teachers technologies preferences so I am not sure if they will be an obstacle or a support for me to use technology.
